The Solar Tower Telescope TST-1
The Telescope TST-1 was built in 1955. Reconstruction to the modern look was completed in 1973. The telescope is designed for observations of the Sun with high spatial resolution - up to 0.3 arcsec. Upstairs, under the dome of the 25-m tower, there is a pair of celostat mirrors that directs the solar beam down onto the main mirror. The large equivalent focus of the system makes it possible to obtain in the focal plane an image of the Sun with a diameter of 50 cm.
Main mirror diameter | 1200 mm |
Small mirror diameter | 1100 mm |
Optic systems | Cassegrain focuses (f/56, f/78) |
Main observations are magnetic fields and velocity in active regions, global magnetic field of the Sun, solar oscillations.
The telescope and equipment are currently under modernization.
